5 Pieces

After reading Beth and Katrin's posts, I thought I'd take on Beth's challenge and define my style in 5 pieces.

Currently my style, if you can call it that, is the ultimate in lazy. Lack of sleep (and clean clothes) means I end up throwing on the same things. Now that I think about it, my ~style really isn't very stylish at all...

1 Leggings

Leggings are my wardrobe essential. Cheap, easy to throw on and they go with everything. Although my new love of tights is slowly taking over from leggings!

2 Grandad Shoes

Crocs aside, these are probably the most unfashionable shoes in existence but I live in them. At £4.99 a pair, they're the comfiest shoes I own and even though I have a tendency to look like a hipster when wearing them, I'll take that over blisters!

3 Tube Skirts

I'm noticing a pattern here with the cheapness of my wardrobe. H&M's £2.99 tube skirts are an everyday essential and I love throwing on a bright or patterned skirt with an all black outfit.

4 Shirts

I'm not a big fan of cardigans and blazers can be too formal so I think shirts are the perfect alternative. Easy enough to throw on over leggings and versatile enough to wear with a variety of outfits.

5 Jewellery

When it comes to jewellery, I'm not a fan of piling it on but I never leave the house without earrings!

This is possibly the most uninspiring post ever, my apologies! My style seems to change on a regular basis depending on how I feel but these are the basics that work with the majority of my wardrobe.

What're your 5 pieces?

Aviator

(please excuse the lack of make up, bad lighting & wet hair)

Meet my new jacket, I am in love! Shopping with Sophie on Saturday, we saw both of the aviators in store and embarrassingly I got far too excited in the middle of Evans to the point where a lady was laughing at me! Although being the stingy student bargainista I am, I ordered it online with a 20% off code ;)

What do you think of the aviator jackets? I originally fell in love with the tan one but after trying it on, I wasn't impressed.

Thank you so much to everyone who commented on my To Blog Or Not To Blog? post. I didn't mean for it to be sound so ridiculous but I appreciate everything that was said! I've since gotten over myself and am exciting to get back into blogging :)

Want Of The Week

After seeing the ridiculously gorgeous Sammi working a few pieces from Fashionolgy, I've fallen in love with the brand! As much as I'm tempted to go ahead and buy the large cross earrings, for now I think I'll just add this lot to my ever expanding wish list!

What're your thoughts on Fashionology? Yay or nay? :)

To Blog Or Not To Blog?

A few bits I've been buying recently:

Moving to university and living in a bigger city has made me unsure of myself. For a moment there I thought I had it all worked out and was almost content in the position I was in. Suddenly I'm not so sure.

I've never thought of myself as a 'country mouse' but moving has made me realise how sheltered my life is. Having to meet new people and constantly reinvent myself to merge into various social groups and friendships is not only confusing but brings me back to 'where do I fit in?'. I don't want to have to censor myself of become this passive, agreeable person just because it's the easiest option. Yet at the same time with so many others to compete with, I no longer have the urge to stand out.

What I lack in self esteem, I make up in confidence and previously I've worn things not because I think they're fashionable or cute but because they're different and I can. I've come to realise that just because I care very little about what randomers think of me, doesn't mean I have to prove a point and dress with the intent of causing a reaction.

I know this is mostly rambling which makes little to no sense, but this changing of attitude and situation is making me reconsider blogging and whether my input to this community is relevant. Until I can figure out a way to take OOTD pictures, I'm unsure if I'll be updating as often.

MAC Venomous Villains Haul

If you read my previous post on this collection, you'll know how excited I was for it to drop! I'm not a fan of neutral colours or reds so I wasn't interested in the Cruella De Vil collection but knew I'd be getting some bits from the Malificent collection (deep purples are perfection!).

When the collection launched, I made a cheeky online order and fell in love with what I received so wandering into Harvey Nichols yesterday I couldn't help but to pick up the blush and lip gelee, online Resort Life looks like a boring sheer nude but in reality it's amazingly glittery and smells gorgeous! Several things have already sold out online but at the MAC counter, the only item to have sold out was the nude lipstick, so if you missed out on something definitely check in-store.

I am in love with everything I've bought and am considering ordering a back up of the cajun powder because it's just that good! My wonderful mother also picked me up some of the lip glosses (but is putting them away for Christmas) so that's definitely me done with this collection. Bring on Wonder Woman!

If you follow me on twitter, you'll have already seen this but home alone and bored the other night, I tried doing a look with the collection:

Did you get anything? I'd love to know what you think of it! :)

Moar Clothes?

If you hadn't already heard, Style 369 is the newest member of the Arcadia Group. Exalted as the fat girls answer to Topshop and said to be a rival for ASOS Curve, Style 369 will be offering their own range of clothing, as well as pieces from Evans and other brands, in sizes 14-26. Although relatively bare at the moment, the site looks to be promising and from what I've seen on their blog and twitter they seem to be as excited about this venture as everyone in the ~fatshionista community!

Oh and as part of their launch they're offering free UK delivery! So get shopping ;)

The amazing Chubble Bubble is soon to be launching a plus size boutique! The boutique will be focusing on statement clothes and accessories, that aren't readily available to the plus size consumer. With prices ranging between $6 to $40, there'll be something for all ages and budgets! The boutique will hopefully be opening in November, so until then keep up to date by following on twitter.

Want Of The Week

I was so close to ordering this bad boy but changed my mind at the last minute. So until I can afford to splash out, back it goes on my to buy list!

Anyone else rocking faux fur this winter?

Jean-Paul Gaultier Sping/Summer 2011 RTW

Beth Ditto aside, I love this collection. Having just watched The Runaways and falling in love with their amazing costumes, seeing a collection which I think combines the androgyny and edginess of Joan Jett with the femininity and sexuality of Cherie Currie is fabulous.

Famous for his Avant-garde designs, Jean-Paul Gaultier is known to cause controversy by using unconventional models in his shows. In 2005, he personally requested that Crystal Renn walk in his SS show, challenging the model aesthetic and launching her career as a runway model.

Crystal & Jean-Paul Gaultier SS 2006

Fast forward to 2010 and not only did plus models Crystal Renn and Marquita Pring walk in his Spring/Summer 2011 show but Beth Ditto opened and closed it.

Look: Velvet

My favourite trend for this autumn/winter has to be velvet. Leggings, shoes, skirts, dresses, shorts, accessories, blazers; whether you're willing to go all out or just want to update a current outfit, there's something for everyone. What I wouldn't give to own the New Look dress! Being that it's sold out in my size, I settled for the velvet shorts instead. Fingers crossed I have more success with my New Look order than I did with my ASOS order.

WorkDress: Beth Ditto @ Evans, Watch: ASOS, Brogues: New Look, Earrings: Disney Couture @ ASOS

DayBlouse & Shorts: New Look Inspire, Boots & Double Finger Ring: ASOS, Bag: Mango @ ASOS, Ring: Topshop, Earrings: Fashionology

NightDress: New Look Inspire, Spot Tights & Wing Ring: Evans, Boots: Topshop, Claw Ring & Bracelets: ASOS, Earrings: Fashionology

Will you be venturing out in velvet?

MAC Venomous Villains Collection

The latest MAC collection, Venomous Villains, launches this month and as it's already available in the US, I've seen various reviews both positive and negative. I agree with some that, the majority of the collection isn't exactly innovative but I will admit that I'm a fan of Disney and a sucker for tacky packaging, so in that respect, this is perfect!

Dr. Facilier aside, I can't decide which collection I like more. Sleeping Beauty may possibly be the dullest Disney film of all time but the Maleficent collection is gorgeous! I love the dark purples and magical looking nail varnishes. I'll definitely be popping into MAC and checking them out.

What do you think of this collection? Cute or tacky?
Will you be getting anything?

H&M Autumn/Winter 2010

I love the neutral palette and oversize pieces throughout this collection. Stylish, comfortable and wearable, perfect!
